The year 2022 was very special for me. It was driven by two powers:
(1) the power of the energy crises
(2) the power of relationships and networks
Especially the concern about security of energy supply let to the situation that more and more people started to get interested in energy. Not only about having enough energy at home – but also about their personal energy. Both developments guided my way to develop a personal energy management scheme with which supports them to have all the energy they need to get through these demanding times.
Bye fatigue – Welcome power – How Personal Energy Management can change your life
Being prepared for a demanding year
Even before the war in the Ukraine got started I already knew that having enough energy will be key in 2022. That’s why I started off the new year with a new course: “Bye fatigue – Welcome power!“. Because – having enough energy for all your activities is key. You know that from your own experience, right? When you having a bad day or you are feeling angry or tired, most of the time things do not run the way they should. On the other hand, if we are having a great day, everybody is friendly and supportive, you are smiling and everybody is smiling back to you. So how would it be to experience more and more good days? Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
That was exactly what this course was about. About getting to know your own energy, learning how to measure it and last but not least having the tools on hand to increase and manage your energy. This was so much fun – not only for me (yes, I love working with energy :-)) – but most important, for all these wonderful women participating in the course. It was really exciting to see the shift, not only in the energy but also that the whole appearance and facial expression changed completely.
The last day of our course was when the war in the Ukraine started. It should have been a moment of celebration but of yours none of us was up to celebrate anything. However, the ladies in the course were very well prepared to deal with this extreme situation. This is actually what energy management is all about. You cannot change life with all it’s developments and challenges. But what you can change is, how you deal with it.
Working with your personal energy helps you to get out faster of such emotional situations and to be more resilient. Things that happen do not have such a vast impact on you anymore. For me it was so heart-warming to see that the participants of the course are prepared to deal with this demanding new year.
Personal Energy Management – What’s that?
In the course of the year and working with more and more clients I figured out that I need to get to know more about what is holding them back to start working with their energy. I experienced that more and more people are open to personal energy work, however they still think they cannot do it on their own. This is NOT true at all. We find an answer to this in quantum science, which states that every atom and therefore every cell and every body and therefore all of us are 100% energy. This means that we are constantly in a state of oscillation and vibrate at different frequencies. Everybody of us is an energy-being and hence can work with energy!
Especially, today with all these obligations from work and kids, partnership, household and looking after ageing parents women don’t have a choice but to start working with their energy! Do you sometimes sit at your desk not knowing how to get everything done that is expected and required of you today? That a single day is just too short to manage all to-dos on your list? In these fast-paced times, time management seems to be the only way to cope with the never-ending stream of tasks, information and fear of missing out on something.
However, there is another way to deal with this never ending stream of tasks. The goal is not to manage your time. The goal is to achieve the desired outcome, namely to get that task done, right? So the secret behind efficient working is Personal ENERGY MANAGEMENT. Because when your energy is up, you can concentrate and focus much better what you are doing and it is easy and goes by your hand quickly.
So what is Personal Energy Management all about? It stands for having the right and enough energy for what you want to achieve. Hence, working on your personal energy means:
? being aware of your energy
? knowing how to measure your energy
? using and raising your energy
? having the tools on hand to manage your energy
The impact of the energy crises on my business and private life
The year started with a big energy bang
The ‘new year started with a big bang. Not necessarily with a positive start – but definitely with a change that had quite an impact – not only on my life. Because of the fact that the North Stream 2 pipeline from Russia to Germany didn’t got the permission to start its operations we were observing, at the end of 2021 the electricity and gas prices on the European wholesale markets were constantly rising. For the last 10 year we all were used to constant electricity prices of 50 EUR/MWh the rose all of the sudden to more than 400 EUR/MWh. Nobody in the market was really aware of such a development!
How margin calls from exchanges came to threaten Europe’s energy industry
To manage risk and fix the price, it is common that most producers sell their power up to three years in advance on exchanges (hedging). But selling on exchanges requires making cash deposits to guarantee future deliveries in case of default. These deposits – known as margin calls – have risen sharply in line with prices, leaving several companies badly exposed as they were unable to find cash fast enough. After the start of the war in the Ukraine and the discovery of the corrosion problems in the French nuklear power plant park the European energy market was expecting scarcity leading to skyrocking prices of more than 1’000 EUR/MWh. It turned out that these margin calls came to threaten Europe’s energy industry.
It was the first time that it was observed that security of supply is not only to guarantee that there are enough power plants up and running but that it is also linked to liquidity. Due to the omnipresence in the news, more and more people started getting more sensitive to energy prices, energy supply and energy scarcity in general. There was a huge interested in having detailed information and I got invited as a speaker at several conferences.
How energy topics became really sexy to talk about
My personal favorite was speaking at the Energy Trading Week (ETRC) end of September in London. It was not only that I was speaking at two controverse and interesting panels, no it was fascinating to exchange with so many different people from different companies and countries. It was so beneficial to discuss with other experts from the industry how they see the way out of the energy crises. Some of these ideas have been already implemented meanwhile – let’s see if they lead to some long term solutions. Looking back the atmosphere at the conference was quite divided – on one side buzzing of energy in order to keep up the security of supply – on the other worries and concern on how to get out of this unknown situation. On top of that you could feel the grief all over the place as the queen just passed away two weeks before.
Finding my break-through idea as a thought leader
What is Thought Leadership
In addition to that my business life got a compeletly different twist, when I met JFab and her Thought Leader Mastermind. Did you hear this expression before? I have to admit I hadn’t. Thought leadership is all about contributing to the discussions in your field with an innovative idea to make the world a better place. At the beginning I was a bit skeptical – what am I going to add to the expertise in the field of quantum energy? Of course I was working with it and developed my own style, but there are so many experts around? Do they really care about my style and findings and more importantly, is there really something new I can add to the discussion?
Even though I was in doubt, I followed the process. Together with JFab we made a deep dive in my way of working and what I do differently compared to others. For me this was quite a challenge exercise. I don’t know about you, but for me most things I do are completely normal for me and it almost never crosses my mind, that this might not the case for others. However, I decided to follow the process and it was indeed stunning what I learned about myself. It was fascinating to get to know me so much better.
Seeing myself with different eyes
The whole process of finding my break-through-idea was a little bit like seeing myself with different eyes. The key to find it is all about asking the “right” questions. JFab was just fabulous with asking me all these questions. So what were my key learnings:
- Most people in the quantum energy field don’t have a technical background. Being an electrical engineer I can explain what energy actually is and how frequencies work.
- I am the embodiment of my personal energy work: I have all the energy I need all day long (ok most of if :-)). I am not only successful in my executive job but have so much energy that I even started my own business, on top of all my obligations for family, friends and my many other projects. It just works!
- I actually did develop something new in the field – I just was not aware of it. I found a unit with which you can measure your life energy and hence, prove that it works.
The interesting part of the process was – because of course I know all these things about me – to link them together in a different way to paint a new picture. This was the key!
The secret behind measuring your life energy
This unit with which you can measure life energy is called Bovis. The fascinating part about Bovis is that you can use it to draw conclusions about your health based on your body Bovis units. Knowing how to measure your Bovis values helps you to better understand who and what sustains and drains your energy. I can only encourage you to use this very valuable possibility of measuring your Bovis values. This knowledge will support you in making better decisions for your energy and consequently, for your life and your well-being. You can do it all by yourself. This is a priceless gift!
How I learned to use my break-through-idea
Having found your break-through idea is really a kind of break-through. It makes you feel proud and gives you confidence. Just the thought that there is something about you and your skills that can make an impact in the lives of others is so powerful! However, what do I do now with this information? That was when I got to know the Personal PR community. In this group JFab is sharing all her magic of 15 years working in PR for world-wide known brands and is interviewing thought leaders and well-known speakers on her Personal PR Show. Her hands-on tips on how to get more visibility were so useful to me. In personal PR the focus is not on social media but how to present yourself on your own – and even more important – on third party channels.
Column vernissage? – What’s that?
How to become a columnist in a popular magazine
This year I attended a couple of Bargespräche events organized by LadiesDrive founder Sandra Stella Triebl. She is such an ikone in the Swiss magazine market and her magazine is full of inspiring interviews with power women and thought leaders. It is not a magazine you browse through, it is something you enjoy reading with valuable content. So this summer, when I read the latest issue I decided that I want to be part of this fabulous magazine. I wanted to write a column.
This was something I had never done before so I didn’t know where to start. Luckily, JFab was on my side and helped me with the first steps. So I wrote a short pitch about what I could contribute to the audience of LadiesDrive and sent it off. Disappointingly I didn’t get any answer back within 4 weeks. So what to do next? I reframed my pitch and sent it another time – with much more sucess. I was invited to outline how I would contribute with my column to the topic of the next issue, which was: “guilt and self-doubt”.
I turned in my proposal and guess what – yes, it got accepted. I was so excited but then there also some doubts – now I indeed need to write the column. Can I really do that? Of course I could and acutally, I flew right out on the paper. I enjoyed it and it was even fun. I liked my column but then there was the big question: Will the publisher like it as well?
Yes she did!!!!! My column got accepted and I couldn’t wait to have a hardcopy of the issue with my article in it in my hands.
Celebrating? I didn’t even think about it
I was so happy about my column but interestingly enough I didn’t tell many people about it. I don’t know about you, but most of the time I am working hard towards a goal, however, once I reach it I don’t fully appreciate the success. This time it was different. The reason for it was the wonderful JFab. She padded me on my shoulder, said: “Well done!” and told me: “You need to celebrate your column. This is really special!”. Celebrating my column?
By thinking about it, I agreed. Women most of the time do not often celebrate their wins, whereas this is so important! Sharing your achievements with people that care for you is something very special. Hence, we organized a little “Column Reading Vernissage“. Isn’t this a very cool title? I invited some friend to the Vernissage. It was such a splendid idea and I loved the whole set-up. It was nice to share my win with like-minded people and it meant a lot to me that they took the time to come.
As it is expected during a Vernissage, I read my column which was live streamed on Instagram, so those, who couldn’t make it got the chance to take part in our gathering. I answered some questions and kicked-off the discussion about feeling guilty and having accusations against others or yourself. Looking back it was one of the best decisions this year to organize the Vernissage.
Publishing my second e-book
On top of that I was working on my second e-book which I published at the end of the summer on my web-page. It seems that this year I discovered that writing can be actually fun. I experienced that once I was committed and dedicated I got into the “writing flow”, something I never experienced before.
I got the idea for the new book when I was speaking with some friends who had a lot on her plate and were very stressed. I showed them some easy exercises they could use immediately to reduce their acute stress and it worked fine for them. They encouraged me to write the book so more people could benefit from these powerful exercises.
I was not fully convinced but wrote the e-book anyway. The title is: “Energetic Stress Management – The new way to deal with stress.” In this book I share how you raise your awareness of being stressed, because most of the time we are so used to feeling stressed that we are not even aware of it any more. Then it is important to know your stress triggers. What causes your stress? And then you learn 3 powerful hacks with which you can deal with your stress – right in that moment. You can get a complementary copy right here.
How 100 Business Energy Hacks can change your life
My idea of 365 energy hacks
Two years ago I had the cool idea to publish every day an energy hack that shows my audience how they can increase their energy. was always a dream of me to have a daily video series with daily energy hacks. The hashtag would have been something like: 365 energy hacks that change your live. I carried this idea with me but never found the right mean and way on how to put it into practice. I was thinking of doing a two to three minutes video for each day but wasn’t sure how I could best film myself with all these activities I had in mind.
Honestly, I didn’t put much effort into this idea to make it happen. I just knew, when the time is right, I shall put it into practice. This happened rather sooner than later. To be precise this October. A friend of mine came up with the idea to organize a #100dayslive challenge. The goal was to go live on a social media channel of your choice for at least to minutes for 100 days. As she told me about it I knew, that I am not going to participate. There are so many things going on in my life and then committing myself to go live every day? No way!
What’s so special about going live
Unfortunately my friends were very insisting and didn’t accept my NO. And all of the sudden it hit my brain – of course – this is my chance to make my idea going to happen! I start with 100 energy hacks and then see how things develop! What a splendid idea! So we started the same day with going live. I never went live on any channel before, so this was quite a challenge for me.
I thought about with which energy hack I wanted to start and then pushed the “live” button on instagram. It was quite late in the evening and I didn’t expect anybody to show up during my live. The contrary happened, two participants connected and waved at me. I didn’t know how to react: do start a conversation with them or just continue with my content? Within a second I decided to welcome them by name and then just continue. I was really proud of me when I managed to upload my first live video. What a step!
Business energy hacks that have an impact
In the course of the time – I enjoyed going live and sharing my energy hacks more and more. It turned out that wherever I go and whatever I watch I always get new ideas for new hacks. It is really amazing! Furthermore, I enjoy the exchange with my community and their feedback on my energy hacks. For me it is also wonderful to read that some of them were really skeptical at the beginning but tried some of them and it worked! I love it! So if you want to get to know new people and different accounts – challenge yourself out of your comfort zone and go live! It is definitely worth the hazzle.
Getting out of my comfort zone brought so much fun in my life
I thought I would never to that – but I wrote and published my first blog post
There are a couple of developments that brought be out of my comfort zone this year. It started with my participation in the #boomboomblog2022 challenge in May with the amazing Judith Peters, better known as Sympatexter. I always thought, writing blog posts is something that others do, but I cannot write. Especially not blog posts. And who is going to read them anyway. However, when I learned about Judith’s story and the way she organizes her challenge, I thought, if you haven’t tried it you don’t know. So why not?
I signed up to the challenge and never ever regretted it. On contrary, it was so much fun and it is really amazing how simple Judith explains how to blog. And it is not only the writing part, she includes a little social media training with posting different content every day and how to deal with the technical part of writing a blog post. And yes – after 10 days I published my first blog post! The feeling was really incredible and I was so satisfied that I made it. All of the sudden I understood that writing blog post can be actually fun 🙂
The fascinating part of the whole challenge was also to get to know new faces and accounts. For me it was mind opening to get out of my “usual” bubble on social media and experience the exchange and support in a new group of like minded blogger. A fascinating experience I wouldn’t have want to miss at all. I have to admit that I wasn’t that consistent to write a blog post every month, but I managed to write two more and another one is in the pipeline. Now I am participating in the *Jahresrückblog challenge, and as in May it is a lot of fun and I learn so many more things about blogging. Thanks, Judith, for opening this world of blogging to me and sharing your immense experience and know-how with all of us.
Trying something new you never thought about
Later this summer my older daughter came by and told me: “Mum, I would like to learn archery.”. This is an interesting approach I thought, because archery is something that never crossed my mind. Thinking about it I remembered that a former colleague of mine was going to his archery class once per week. He explained that what he loves most about archery that you need to be fully concentrated and in the moment, otherwise it doesn’t work.
While all these thoughts went through my mind I decided – I want to learn this as well. So I asked my daughter, if she would mind if we do this together. It was not only learning archery, but also having some common activities and spending more time together. This was something I was really looking for.
So we both went to our first archery lesson. I have to admit – I learned a lot. A lot about archery techniques but also about myself. I learned that I can only close my right eye and aim with my left eye which makes me use a left-handed bow. I loved the moment of aiming, concentrating on the target and then let the arrow go. It is such a satisfying feeling when you hit right the center, but also annoying when I was farther away. Doing this course together was a wonderful experience for my daughter and myself. I am glad I tried it.
Expanding my network – Expanding my Consciousness
Our relationships matter to us
Entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker Jim Rohn once famously stated, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with“. That’s why I invited JFab to the energy-on-show. She is a Global Super Connector who already built hundreds of online and offline communities on how to connect, built relationships and create your own community. When I was preparing the interview I thought about this sentence and all of the sudden it occurred to me that my five people have completely changed the last two year.
I always thought that these five people need to be around me. So I met friends, went to conferences and Aperos but since Covid this has changed. Zoom made it possible to connect easily with inspiring people all over the world. Which is what I am doing right now – I invite international masterminds and quantum science discussion groups literally in my living room and fancy to drink a virtual coffee with a friend in Boston.
Bottom line – our relationships are energetic – they can drain or boost our energy. And most of the time we are not aware of it.
New networks – new ways
For being and staying connected our main focus is still very often on Social Media. Which is so true regarding visibility and get to know new people. However, in 2022 I experience the power and charm of WhatsApp groups. My most favorite group is the Vitamin W group. This is a global female sorority created to empower, inspire and educate like minded superwomen from all walks of life.
What I enjoy most about it? These groups are most of the time closed groups with certain topics with the main goal to support each other. I know, I hear it frequently, that there is the believe that women don’t support other women. But I experience in these groups exactly the opposite. We are supporting each other, celebrating the wins of each member while creating the flair that so much more is possible.
Besides that I enjoy so much being part of the Quantum Science Group. For me it is so inspiring not only read books about these topics but actually discuss different approaches and exercises on a scientific level. For me it was very helpful to start experimenting with new tools and work more on the scientific approach in order to better explain the world of quantum energy to my clients. There is still so much more to explore and learn – that’s why I just love to be part of this group.
Why taking breaks is so important for your productivity and creativity
Most people think that breaks take your time – the contrary is true
With my energy I could always do something, but what I’ve learned in the meantime is that I’m much more creative and yes, also more in the flow, if I take breaks. It is especially the small breaks during the day – because quite often we are so caught up by getting everything done that is on our list, that we completely forget to listen to the needs of our body – that are so important. Just a short look out of the window, watch a bird fly by or getting a fresh glass of water to drink. Integrating small breaks in your daily life is essential.
And then, fortunately, there are always vacations where you have the opportunity to give your body and mind a rest. This doesn’t mean that you should do nothing at all – on the contrary – I see this as a time to give the body the opportunity to relax on the one hand, but on the other hand to challenge the mind to get out of the autopilot programs – on which we all run more or less.
Checking out my limits
There is one thing I hardly ever miss and this is the crossing of the lake Zurich. This happens once per year and at that day it is possible to swim over the width of the lake in Zurich. Most of the time around 10’000 people participate and you need to book a certain time slot because of course not everybody can start at the same time.
In general – I just love swimming. It is kind of my second nature and I just love to be in, at or on the water. So during the summer I swim a lot – also long distances. That’s why I participate every year in the Zurich Seeüberquerung. There is something special about it when you can swim these 1.5 km across the lake. I love the view of Zurich from this perspective. And yes, it does have something satisfying when you are on the other side and look back on the other shore and realize, 36 minutes before I was still over there. It is also nice to share this special moment with all the other swimmers around you. It is pure fun and leaves you with the satisfying feeling you just moved your body.
Exploring new things in Sweden
This year we spent our summer in Sweden. I have to admit it was an experience of another kind. We spent a lot of time in nature and I challenged myself every morning with a swim in the sea. And I mean every day, even when it was cold and windy. Yes, on some days it was an overcoming – brrrrrrrrrr – but afterwards I felt so refreshed and ready for the day that I just knew it was right. But there is another thing Sweden is famous for and that is its glass blowings.
Already as a child I was fascinated by glass blowing. I remember that my uncle once gifted my mom a beautiful green glass pot from his trip to Sweden. I loved the shimmering and different facets when the light broke through this amazing piece of art. So when we passed by at a glass blowing hut I decided that I wanted to do my own glass pot! So we went there and it was such an extraordinary experience. I learned a lot about the actual glass blowing techniques and in the course of making my own I needed to choose the different colors, the shape and much more! I ended up making an orange jar and every morning when I use it I am reminded at the wonderful feeling when I made it!
My year 2022 in numbers
Having a look at all these numbers my facts and figures on my social media accounts show me that my community is still small. However, I enjoy the exchange with all of them and for me it is not about quantity but what really counts is the quality of the people around. It is not a numbers game because behind each number there is a real person. A person with ideas, dreams, thoughts, feelings and yes, also energy!
End of 2022 my accounts show the following numbers:
On Instagram I did so far 301 posts and actually 941 are following my account.
On Youtube there I published #78 episodes and #22 shorts with 132 abonnents.
On TikTok there are 108 Followers and my content got 562 likes.
I have 653 Followers on LinkedIn.
I was invited to speak at six podcasts and six conferences and I just loved it.
My goals for 2023
The year 2022 was a very successful year for me. Many things went the way I wanted them to be and some things even went better than I expected them to be. Of course there is still room for improvement and many new things to be planed and achieved. In order to have a clearer picture about them I formulated them here:
? Goal #1: Start my Personal Energy Mastermind. This has been a dream for quite long and in February 2023 it is going to happen. I shall start a 4 months mastermind in which women will learn how to be aware of their energy, how to measure and increase and how to use it to thrive your business. I am so much looking forward to it.
? Goal #2: Write a book or write a chapter in another book. As I discovered my love for writing this year I want to continue to write and improve it. It will be definitely a book about I can empower you to apply your energy. Because the future is energy.
? Goal #3: Give a TEDX Talk. I know this is quite a challenge and defying to find an appropriate angle but I would love to do it.
? Goal #4: Speak at least at one online summit.
Looking at all that what I want to achieve, my Motto for 2023 will be: My energy is my business card.
Looking forward to your comments!
